Keukenhof was poetry in colour on a sunny May day!
It must be the world’s best garden! The colours and the setting have to be seen to be believed!
To get the best out of the garden it’s better to visit it individually rather that with an organised tour. There’s a direct bus (858) from the airport to Keukenhof every 30 minutes.
Hotel Restaurant De Nachtegaal
For our long weekend to visit Keukenhof 1/2 May 2016 my partner and I chose to stay at De Nachtegaal. For us it’s the only place to stay for visiting Keukenhof. We picked up bus 361 from Stand B2 outside Schiphzl Airport. It stopped right outside the hotel!
Just across the hotel there’s a big field of tulips. The colours were so inviting that we could not help wandering around the tulips (like many other people). It was only when we got out from the same path that we went in that we noticed the “no entry” sign that had been pushed aside!
Keukenhof at its best!
By staying in a hotel within 20 minutes’ walk to Keukenhof and booked our tickets in advance we were able to get inside as soon as it opened at 8.00 without having to queue.
For the first 90 minutes there were few people in the gardens and I was able to take photos to my heart’s content. It was pure joy to be able to wander around in peace and quiet to appreciate those beautifully laid out flowers. When it got crowded we walked back to the hotel for lunch and went back to the park in the late afternoon.
I make no apologies for all the photos on this page as I have already whittled them down!
There are more!
