Krakow topped every research that I made on what city to visit first in Poland. I can easily understand why! There’s a direct flight from London with British Airways for a start.
My friend and I had a super deal with BA to stay at Holiday Inn Krakow City Centre in May 2017. The weather was not particularly good (cloudy with occasional sunshine) but the warmth of everyone we came across made up for it.
From the moment we were picked up at the airport by the taxi arranged by the hotel, we were impressed by the city! The taxi drivers that drove us to and from the airport were articulate and helpful and spoke perfect English.

My friend and I spent 3 nights at this hotel and congratulated ourselves with the choice! It had everything: the perfect location, comfortable room, friendly service, great breakfast and dinner! The vicinity of the hotel to the Old Town enabled us to pop back to the hotel when it threatened to rain.
The Old Town
The Main Market Square is where all the main attractions are. As our hotel was just a short walk away we were able to get there before 10.00 to really enjoy the square and take photos before it became crowded. When the square became busy we just had a drink at one of the many restaurants and cafés all around the square to watch the world go by in horse-drawn carriages

Bejewelled horse drawn carriages provided more colours to the square
Cloth Hall
St Mary’s Basilica
Town Hall Tower.
No visit to a city is complete without my climbing up at least one tower. This time it was the Town Hall Tower. There were 100 steep, narrow and winding steps to the top.
It was worth the climb to have a good view of the square. Unfortunately there’s no opening for a viewing of the lovely Cloth Hall.
