Day trip to Cádiz from Seville
From our base in Seville we continued our tour of southern Spain.
Having had to make a mad rush to get the train from Seville to Córdoba the day before, we bought the tickets for Cádiz when we got back to Seville. We were in good time to catch the 9.45 train and we arrived just before 11.30.
Cádiz is an ideal day trip from Seville
Hop on hop off bus tour 👎🏻
Once again we headed straight for the tourist information desk on arrival and bought our hop on/hop off tickets. We caught the tour bus at the port. At the next stop there was a long queue of people who had just disembarked from a cruise ship.
We stayed on for stop 7 for the centre, which turned out to be not far from the port! So stops 2 to 6 were just to the new part of the city to pick up people from the resort hotels! We could have walked everywhere from the train station!
On this occasion hop on hop off was definitely a waste of money. For a day trip Cádiz is too compact to require public transport, let alone hop on hop off bus.
Cádiz Cathedral and Square
City Hall and square
Along the river
This is the stunning view that has tourists snapping away with their cameras and phones! The cathedral forms a wonderful background in the distance. But it’s the same view however many times it is photographed! 😂
Views from Torre Tavira
After lunch we found Torre Tavira on the edge of the central area. It afforded a good bird’s eye view of the city. The roof tops from the Tower shimmered in the bright sunshine
Plaza de la Constitucion
This impressive square divides the old city from the new parts of Cádiz
Got the fridge magnet!
