New Delhi

To be honest New Delhi was not my destination of choice but I flew in and out of India via Indira Gandhi International Airport. A day in the city was enough for me

The unforgettable memory I have is of the noisy and chaotic traffic on dusty roads.
“Noisy” because everyone seemed to use the car horn for steering, “chaotic” because vehicles of all shapes and sizes seemed to straddle the lanes ready to slip in any space. There were traffic jams everywhere with hawkers and beggars interspersing amongst the halting vehicles.

I am sure there are places of interest to visit. However by this time I had had enough of mosques and palaces though I was rather looking forward to visiting India Gate (I even bought a fridge magnet!) Unfortunately our tour was in New Delhi a few days before the National Day on 26 January so it was closed off. I did visit two interesting places that were well worth a visit.
