An exciting new venture!
I can’t believe that I have my own website – a wonderful gift from my daughter and son-in-law!!
In recent years I have developed an interest in photographing scenery on my travels so it’s a great opportunity for me to showcase my best efforts!
As this site was set up just after my return from India I am starting my blog with Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal always fascinates me. Unfortunately the negative images of India projected in the press made it difficult to find someone to go to visit with me. I was delighted that a cousin agreed to join a fully guided tour to India with me while I was in Hong Kong in January 2018.
The tour started and ended at New Delhi with stays at Agra and Jaipur which was all that I wanted. And I was not disappointed.
For me, being able to just wander around the Taj Mahal grounds to admire and take photos of all the beautiful buildings at leisure was a joy.
Here are the views that everyone came here for!
Agra Fort
After the splendour of Taj Mahal, Agra Fort seemed a little plain by comparison. However it was much less crowded for appreciating the buildings and the once-opulent interiors that were a royal residence until the 1630’s.
Fatehpur Sikri Fort
It was quite early in the morning when we arrived at Fatehpur Sikri Fort. The place was shrouded in mist and we had to negotiate the very high steps to get to the impressive entrance. Then we had to run the gauntlet of hordes of souvenir-sellers and some unfortunate child beggars. The first impression was not good.
However once inside the vast grounds a sense of serenity took over. As the mist began to dissipate there was a mystical feel around the place, which was not yet crowded. Jama Mosque was spectacular inside and out. Although I was overloaded with local history by this time, the sense of history of the Fort was overwhelming. It’s a great place for history lovers to visit.
Finally – I was there!
